RANDWICK HOUSE 2

This renovation of a Federation era semi-detached home within a Heritage Conservation Area in Randwick creates an open plan kitchen-lounge-dining area from three smaller rooms. A new bathroom replaces the orginal, but in a location where it will no longer impede views to the back yard or restrict outdoor access. Generous stacking slider glazed doors, an extra window and skylights introduce more natural lighting and ventilation. A new glazed pergola with a upward raked profile will allow winter sunlight to enter the new living areas, while shading the rear of the  house in summer. A new kitchen will enjoy natural light and ventilation from a group of skylights carefully located overhead so as to fit beside the chimney which the council required to be maintained.

Approval for this renovation was obtained from Randwick Council in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. The project was tendered and the building contract administered by Dunn Architects.
