POONA BEACH HOUSE 1
A pavilion style beach house with a low profile link between two splayed wings with dramatic skillion roofs was the solution for maximising private space on this irregular shaped green field site.
Bathroom windows provide side views at either end of a privacy screen. (Right) This configuration protected privacy from pedestrians on the path (Far right)
A system of elevated gutters fixed to pergola directed all rainwater to a screened tank enclosure. (Left)
In-line balustrades (centre right) fill a sliding doorway giving maximum cross ventilation to the kitchen/dining area
A private verandah adjacent to the artist’s studio connects with a wide flight of steps (centre left) to the private northern backyard
A carport is located beside the rainwater tank enclosure and storage sheds
Charcoal painted plywood clerestory panelling blends into deep shading from oversize eaves. Vertically grooved fibre cement sheets provide a low maintenance cladding.
The living area pavilion overlooks the private central yard area.
A deck and hallway link the living area pavilion (kitchen, lounge and dining) with the private pavilion (bedrooms and bathroom)
This bedroom overlords the private central and rear yards
