BRONTE HOUSE 1

Adding a first floor addition to this heritage listed Federation style Waverley house required minimal alterations to the existing building in order to gain council approval. This was achieved by limiting the removal of roofs to the rear face only of the main tiled roof and removal of the metal roof of an unsympathetic 1990s extension. In this way an access corridor into a new storage area within the main roof cannot readily be seen from the street. Small dormer style rooms off this corridor accomodate a stairway and ensuite, without being visually obtrusive. A rear balcony provides views of the garden and the sea beyond.

Approval for this renovation was obtained from Waverley Council in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney.
